It’s no secret that outpatient total joint replacement is on the rise. Patients across the country are now being routinely discharged same-day after having total hip or knee replacement procedures. Despite predictions that total joint replacements will rapidly shift to outpatient, the vast majority of these surgeries are still performed in the hospital with at least one overnight stay.

Surgery centers designed around this concept have the advantage of being sustainable while maintaining a smaller physical footprint and a smaller physician ownership group, contributing to a concierge-like feel for the patient.
